If you’re anything like me, finding a good poutine spot in your area is crucial to living a happy quarantine. Luckily for us, there are tons of local spots in the Ottawa area that have great poutine, and we’re here to hopefully narrow down your search. Below, we have compiled a list of some awesome spots (in no particular order!) that you can get your fix of some the best comfort food money can buy. From simple to outlandish options, we’re sure that you will find a place to enjoy.

Smoke’s Poutinerie

Simple and widely available. Smoke’s was first opened in 2008 in Toronto, and now has over 150 locations throughout North America. This is a go-to spot if you just want some traditional poutine. They also offer vegetarian options, which is rare among poutineries.

Pong’s Poutine

Definitely one of the places that has some crazy options, Pong’s Poutine has everything from traditional poutine, to breakfast options, and even a Thanksgiving poutine. Their cart is located at 2079 Carp Rd and you should give them a shot if you’re feeling adventurous.

WooHoo Waffle’s

I already know what you’re thinking, “A waffle place?”, but yes, a waffle place. Normally specializing in sweet or savory waffle creations, they brought their own spin on poutine to the Ottawa Poutine fest in 2019. They use waffle fries instead of traditional chips and it is definitely a contender in the Ottawa area.

Elgin Street Diner

Elgin Street Diner has been in the Ottawa area for over 20 years and is highly recognized as one of the best spots to get your poutine fix. They have a great traditional poutine as well as some other tasty options like their Smoked Meat Poutine and an Onion Ring Poutine. Elgin Street Diner is definitely worth a trip if you haven’t been.

Zak’s Diner

With a couple locations in Ottawa, Zak’s Diner is definitely worth a mention if you want a traditional poutine or even a breakfast poutine. The best part about Zak’s is that they’re open 24/7, so they’re a perfect late night spot when that craving hits.
