With this system, standard on every model, a crystal-clear image of what’s behind your vehicle is projected onto the centre console screen. For an even more natural image free of distortion, the rear camera is located close to the centre of the vehicle and provides a wide view. This dynamite feature brings even more confidence to the BRZ driving experience.
Multi-mode Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control System (TCS)
Standard on all models, the Vehicle Stability Control system employs an array of sensors to monitor steering input, braking input and yaw angle at all times. The VSC features four different driver-selectable settings when in TRACK mode, as well as a TCS-off switch. This range of choice allows you to tailor the level of control to suit the conditions and to support your desire to push the car to its limits.
The ABS incorporates the latest thinking on brake performance and delivers superior levels of control and safety. Electronic Brake-force Distribution automatically adjusts brake pressure front-to-back according to vehicle loads. Brake Assist delivers added brake pressure in panic-stop situations. Brake Override cuts engine power when the brakes and the throttle are applied simultaneously. Large ventilated discs on all four corners provide superior stopping power in all conditions. To top it all off, the Hill Start Assist function helps prevent rollback on inclines. On the Sport-tech RS trim, stopping performance is boosted even further by Brembo® brake system components.

Next-generation Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame
Over the years, Subaru has become known among accident response personnel as building one of the strongest, most protective vehicles on the road. The secret to this success is an advanced frame design that connects the roof, door beams, side pillars and floor together, creating a 360-degree barrier of protection. This proprietary design makes extensive use of high-tensile strength steel to better divert crash energy away from the passenger compartment without adding unnecessary weight.
The Subaru BRZ comes standard with a total of six airbags, a reflection of an advanced approach to passive safety. The collection comprises dual-stage deployment front airbags and seat-mounted side-impact airbags for the driver and co-driver, as well as a pair of side-curtain airbags engineered to protect all passengers.
Whiplash-reducing Front Seats
The front seats are engineered to dampen the effects of a rear-end collision and reduce the chance of neck injuries. The unique features of these seats include an extremely rigid frame, energy-absorbing inner seat springs and an anti-whiplash headrest.
The low positioning of the SUBARU BOXER engine in the chassis not only helps lower the centre of gravity, it also makes for safer vehicle. Should a head-on collision take place, the engine and transmission are both designed to absorb impact energy and then break away from the vehicle structure and drop below the passenger compartment for added safety.
