If you know the Subaru WRX, you probably took the time to take a glance at the WRX STI. The WRX STI is the WRX’s rally-ready version and is Subaru’s trophy-getter in the sport. Known across the racing worlds as the meanest, most capable AWD car ever built, the STI is available to any driver looking for excitement and racing characteristics on the road, along with the comfort and convenience of a fully equipped sedan. The Subaru WRX STI comes in three versions: the Base version, the Sport version and the Sport-Tech version. Prices start at $39,760.

The outside of the 2017 WRX STI speaks for itself. It boasts aggressive looks, with stylish elements such as the side cooling vents and aerodynamic spoilers that not only look great but also serve a specific purpose on the handling and performances of the car. All three variants are equipped with standard contoured multi-reflector halogen headlights, functional hood scoop for intercooler air flow, quad-tipped, high-performance stainless steel exhaust with polished tips, integrated LED turn signals and power-adjustable, foldable and heated mirrors. Buyers who opt for the Sport and Sport Tech models will benefit from high-profile spoiler and a glass power tilting and sliding sunroof.

The 2017 WRX STI is monstrously powerful. It is equipped with Subaru’s signature turbocharged BOXER engine that develops a whopping 305 hp and 296 lb-ft of torque. This engine is a 2.5 L Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC), 16-valve, horizontally opposed, four-cylinder engine equipped with a high-pressure turbocharger and high-capacity intercooler, electronic throttle control along with the Dual Active Valve Control System. The intake manifold is powder-coated in red for better protection against rising temperatures and the spark plugs are iridium-tipped. Transferring the power to the wheels is a high-performance 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission. Finally, the WRX STI is equipped with Subaru’s symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system.

Inside, the WRX STI is filled with competition oriented elements along with many comfort, convenience and technological items that make it one of the most comfortable sedans in the segment. All three variants come fully equipped with performance-design front seats with separate height- and tilt-adjustable head restraints with red stitching, an auxiliary audio input in the center console, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity with voice activation and steering wheel-mounted controls, MediaHub for iPod and USB integration, a rearview camera,  and the dual-zone automatic climate control. Moreover, all variants come with the 60/40-split flat-folding rear seats. The base and sport versions come with a 6.2 in touchscreen for the infotainment system, while the Sport-Tech version gets a 7-inch screen.
